African artists had to attract film lovers in different ways in the 1980s and 1990s ...

These artists were tasked with making movie posters that would look like original posters but which would be more interesting and that would better attract an audience. In Africa at that time, it was not possible to print large quantities of real movie posters, so these artists were tasked with replicating them.

The point was that artists often did not even know what films were or what they were about. This led to the emergence of hilarious and somewhat bizarre art posters that are now considered true movie gems and collectors around the world are trying to get their hands on them.
